Living in the European Union.....

means having LOTS of languages close at hand! It's one of the things I love about living here!
The other day I set up a new DVD player in our basement (which serves as a crafty room, exercise room, spare guest room, etc) . Just look at all the languages I could choose from to set it up "Quick Start"! There are 2 books with instructions as well....for the not so 'quick' things to do with the machine. I should tell you something more....unintentionally, I setup the TV for this DVD player in RUSSIAN! And I can't figure out how to switch it back to English, which is the standard start up language! It bothers my husband to have it this way but it doesn't bother me as long as I can get the TV to do what I want it to do, when I want it to do it! And I just love that I have a TV and DVD player that can speak in so many languages! Wow!
How many languages does your TV "speak"?
Another windy storm passed our way 2 weeks ago....we lost a lovely Tulip tree in our front yard. Our biggest Walnut tree (in the photo) almost fell over too! But Bo has managed to strap it back up with high hopes that it will survive it's near fall. (across the street is our neighbor's stable and wood pile in the photo) We don't usually have these storms in the summer...just the winter. This time we only lost power for about 3 hours.
Because of the storm we decided to take down two more pine large trees in our front yard since they are quite near to the house. Just as a precaution. Our neighbors' also lost several trees in this last storm, luckly none fell on the houses. So, the "trädgubben" was back over here climbing up and cutting down....lots of extra yard work for my husband!
And now we are so exposed....as soon as the mess is cleaned away we'll plant some new trees and big bushes! We're feeling naked over here! I miss those big trees...but I didn't want them falling on the house!

Bummer about all the trees!! I always feel terrible about trees that get cut down (or fall) and mourn them for a long time. You'll have to get planting! Flyinge Plantshop has lots to choose from! :D

You have such beautiful surroundings! I can understand though the need to cut down some of the larger trees. It is really remarkable how quickly they grow.

That is so sad when the trees come down...
Here in brown LA, we aren't used to such beautiful trees or even seeing green.
