Some Souvenirs

Wish I had had the money and the space to take home more of the handicrafts from Dalarna...but I did get a few things to add to our "home museum" and to my crafty room stash! "So what did you purchase to take home, Carol?"Well, I finally bought some of this beautiful fabric from JOBS...it is hand printed. I've been drooling over it ever since I first saw it in Stockholm during my first visit to Sweden in 1997! Couldn't convince my husband to spend 850 to 1,500 kr. ($135 to $240 usd) per meter for new living room curtains! So I had to be satisfied with these meter reminents, which were not so cheap!
Look at these fun cloth ribbons! Very good prices! The pink one is hand-woven...$5.oo for 10 meters!
I would have liked to buy a felt handbag embroidered in this style...but I settled for a pin cushion instead!
More fabric pieces from the bargain bins....the obnoxious yellow one was going out of production so I bought the end of the bolt for a great price. I like the pattern for about 15 minutes then it is too much. What shall I use it for? The angel one is a JOBS piece. The wooden horses are the rough cut ones we can whittle ourselves (when Maya is about 12 years old).
I also bought the unfinished, finely sanded horses for Maya and friends to paint some day.
These are laying on 2 meters of rich, black FELT...also got for more than half price at JOBS.
You'd think I would be sick of Dalahorses.....but these little ones were so cute! Sterling silver charm for my travel bracelet and a small wooden pin. So well painted...so tiny!
And these beauties wanted to come home with me, too! Two painted in their regional colors and two little ones for the Maya to paint (or not) in the future. I collect wooden folk toys so these were a MUST in my collection! ;-)
We got a whimsical windmill decoration for our garden...when it is set up I'll take a photo for you to see it. Other than a few t-shirts, post cards and knäckebrod (crisp bread)...that's it for our souvenirs this trip!
